What to Expect at Your Appointment

Feeling nervous is normal. Here’s a quick overview of what the process is usually like.

1. Confidential Check-in

You'll provide some basic information. Everything is kept private and confidential. You can often use a pseudonym if you prefer.

2. Pre-Test Counseling

A trained counselor will talk with you, explain the test, and answer any questions you have in a non-judgmental way.

3. The Test Itself

The test is quick and simple, usually involving a small finger prick or an oral swab. It's usually painless and over in a minute.
